Description


Ersari is one of the most important Turkoman tribes, its people are among the best weavers. The Turkoman tribes are said to be descended from Noah. Two of the most important of these 24 clans are the Ersari and Tekke. Originally nomadic, these proud people are mostly settled in Northern Afghanistan in the area bordered by Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. There they weave fine rugs using traditional designs. In the last few years, they have introduced a somewhat wider palette of colours.
